Continuation of our journey through WinNova and Pori

After two months apart, the IPVET (Inclusive Pedagogy in VET) project partners were all delighted to reunite in Pori, Finland. The warm atmosphere and familiar faces made it feel like no time had passed since our inspiring first meeting in the Netherlands and Belgium. This second gathering marked an important next step in our two-year journey focused on student and staff well-being. Hosted by our Finnish partners, the program in Pori offered new insights, engaging discussions, and hands-on experiences that deepened our understanding of inclusive pedagogy. Below, we share the highlights and key moments of our time in Pori and reflect on the connections, inspiration, and learning that continue to grow within our international community and work together across borders.
- Pilot planning (Work Package 3)
During our meeting in Finland, we discussed how we are going to achieve our goal of creating the pilot plans. We produced a template for pilot planning together. Later in the week, we took the time to present the pilot plans to each other in a beautiful setting.

- WinNova ́s counselling services
Eva Elo presented the counselling services of WinNova.

- Experiencing “Hius-Welmu”
The hairdressing students offered the partners a hair wash and quick styling. Teacher Satu Laiho shared her experiences as a EuroSkills competitor coach with the team.

- Finnish education system & WinNova ́s student mobilities
The expert on international activities at WinNova – Tiina Kallio gave a brief overview of the Finnish education system and provided specific information on the VET system in Finland. WinNova’s staff and student mobilities were introduced to partners.

- Student ́s experiences of studying in Finland
The IPVET team met with Filipino practical nursing students and held small group discussions about their experiences so far with their studies at WinNova and in Finland.

- Tour at our laboratory classes and simulation area – Experiencing a simulation
First we took a tour of the social and healthcare department’s classrooms and saw where some of the teachers work. After the tour, we experienced a simulation to get to know the simulation area and tools better. We experienced a simulation ourselves and gave each other feedback in a pleasant setting.

- Experiencing “Peliselli”
Two students from the Soteekki project gave a presentation on Peliselli. The project partners tried out all the tools, relaxation areas and games. The partners got ideas for their pilot planning.

- WinNova ́s
student activities & student body Wino ry
Kaisa Jokinen presented the activities of the Student Association Wino ry and the tutor programme.

- Education preparing for vocational education (TUVA)
We got to know TUVA. TUVA is a program that has been running since August 2022, offering support to students who face a wide range of learning difficulties. Teacher Jatta introduced us to various support methods and her teaching techniques. She uses tools such as concentration toys and colouring exercises, which are part of her daily routine with the TUVA student group. We had the opportunity to try out some of these methods ourselves.

We ended a fun and educational week in a fantastic setting at Marina Vista, feeling motivated to continue developing the pilot planning in our own schools.

- Visit to care home for the elderly “Dagmaaria”
Too bad our Dutch colleagues had to go home already; the Belgian ones were still able to visit a nursing home. We hope to organize an exchange with Finnish and Belgian students in the future.
